With the release of the online version, CrossCrypt Web works without any download and is recommended for quickly encrypting small batches of files or text. A key advantage of CrossCrypt is its consistent encryption protocol. Files and text encrypted using any CrossCrypt tool, whether it’s the Web App, Desktop Application, or CrossCrypt Terminal, all are fully interoperable. This ensures you can securely encrypt and access your files across multiple devices, including Android and iOS.

However, for more advanced tasks like encrypting entire directories, the standalone CrossCrypt application remains essential due to browser limitations.

Design

CrossCrypt is designed to encrypt all file types, including entire directories, using the robust AES-256 encryption standard. This ensures both high performance and exceptional security.

The encryption protocol is built on a secure foundation: AES-256 with CBC for data encryption, paired with PBKDF2-SHA512, a slow password hashing algorithm. This combination provides a significantly higher level of security compared to standard hashing techniques, protecting your data against brute-force attacks.
